Share the public page URL
A file opened from a computer’s Downloads folder is a local file, not a public web page that a messaging service can fetch. Upload the website and its assets to the production hosting and share the complete HTTPS address of the page you want to preview.
Include metadata in the page source
Open Graph tags identify a page’s title, description, URL and representative image. Place them in the HTML head so they are present in the response before JavaScript runs. The image tag should point to the image for that particular page or article.
Use an absolute image address
The preview image address should include the production domain and its full HTTPS path. A relative path may work when a browser displays the page, but a complete image URL gives the sharing client a clear address to fetch. Update image paths when the site is moved to another domain.
Keep the image relevant and lightweight

Check that the image is public

Keep titles and descriptions distinct

Consider cached previews
A previously shared URL can retain older preview information after an update. Confirm that the live page and image have changed, then try sharing a fresh test URL with a version query. Review before wider sharing
